New Ethanol Saab

Luxury car and limousine manufacturers are facing increasing pressure when creating new vehicles, as the pressure is not only to create luxurious, spacious and accessorised limousines, but also limousines which are fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

Because of their size, limousines have always used more fuel than ordinary cars and because they are on the road more than ordinary cars, this is doubly important and in need of attention.

Saab is not going to be left behind either, and has recently unveiled a new concept car which will take the environmentally friendly luxury cars already on the market by storm. Saab is showcasing a bioenthanol-powered engine, an E100, meaning it is a 100% ethanol engine. The concept engine is a 2 litre engine, compatible turbocharged and can accelerate from 0-60 m/h in 6.6 seconds. The body of the Saab has also been especially designed to create maximum speed, minimum resistance and a new sleek sportier look.

Running an engine on ethanol fuel is a huge advancement as it not only gives lower emissions, but it also maintains power and speed while running on a smaller engine. This allows for lower fuel consumption and removes the need to rely on hybrid technology for alternative and environmentally friendly fuels.

So while limousines and luxury cars generally are larger, have larger engines and contribute more harmful emissions than regular cars, the manufacturers are working hard to discover ways to make their luxury vehicles run faster, smoother and better on less harmful fuels.
